This week was a slap in the face to say the least. I knew that social media was true to its name and very social and public, however now I am terrified. I have had a substantial footprint on social media since I was 14 and cannot imagine how much companies have sold about me. I have just about every social media app on the planet and have not ever thought about other people seeing them, regardless of the fact that they are all public. I went through and did a quick clean up so everything appears appropriate and reflective of myself as a person, but after listening to Jesse explain that everything we have ever posted is out there forever, I am terrified.

Through a quick google search of my name, all you get is my LinkedIn profile (handy for employers to see) and my Swimming Canada page which shows my times from when I used to swim (which are mildly embarrassing). Thankfully, there is a British talk show where the hosts names are Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard, so when you search my name, google thinks you’re asking for them and floods the page with their articles.

Here is a google image search of what comes up when you search my name. Thankfully there’s only one image, and it’s a professional one that links to my LinkedIn (marketing 101) so I’m comfortable with my online footprint now that I have cleaned up my accounts.
