To accommodate unexpected events, we could have a zoom session to set all our learners up before they start the lesson. So far we have planned that students will complete an EdPuzzle with 6 mini lessons that have questions sprinkled throughout, then a class discussion, then a formative exam. If an event occurred that stopped some or all of the class from meeting then this would all be facilitated through zoom or teams, whatever our district preferred. We would meet at the same time but online. We would introduce what students have to do and then send them off for the EdPuzzle. Because of how that system is set up, we would be able to see how each of the students did when answering the questions to check for understanding. After this we could have a group discussion following the think, pair, share model. This means we give students a question, then send them into small groups to discuss the question, and bring everyone back for a big group discussion. By doing this, students get to think through their own thoughts, and modify them based on other students’ perspectives. After doing this we would walk students through how the google forms worked and send them off to do the quiz by themselves. Again the results would be uploaded immediately and I could bring everyone back and go over all the aspects that they didn’t really get.
If the event stopped us from meeting at our usually time, I would set it as an asynchronous lesson for our students. The would complete the EdPuzzle first, then the quiz. Then I would take the results from both for the whole class and create a discussion list for us to discuss at the beginning of our next class, and a revision assignment influenced by the weakest points done on the quiz that can be completed either alone or in pairs.
